Europe 101
So you’re interested in vacationing and train travel in Europe? Great! We know it can be daunting though, so here is some essential reading to help you feel prepared.
Train travel Europe 101Frequently asked questions
What’s included?
Our price includes all of your European vacation transport, accommodation and a personalised itinerary for your trip. You'll also have our travel experts on WhatsApp for disruption support and travel tips.
Are flights included?
We don’t include flights to Europe but do include all transport and accommodation when you get here. Short-haul flights are very carbon-intensive but thankfully traveling around Europe by train, ferry or bus is super easy and enjoyable.
Can I upgrade my hotel room?
You can choose different hotels on the trip page, and if you want to upgrade your room, there is a space in the booking form to let us know. Our team will then find upgrades and discuss these with you.
Do I have to start and finish in the same city?
Although we advocate for going flight free at every opportunity, we know that you might want to leave Europe from a different city. Our Concierge team can build you a custom one way trip.
Can I pay in US dollars?
Yes, you can! Whilst we show our prices in British pounds on the page, you can select US dollars on the checkout page, and the price on the payment page then will be shown in USD.
Baggage allowance?
There's no charge for baggage. If it can fit in the racks or overhead, you'll be able to take it with you as long as you can carry it. We can suggest bag storage or transfer options, and advise on over-sized items like surfboards or bicycles.
How do my tickets get delivered?
The vast majority of European train ticketing can be digital, but some (Spain, Portugal, and a handful of EuroCity trains) will need paper tickets which can be mailed to a hotel you’ll be staying at.
Is it a guided group trip?
These are self-guided tours, not part of a group. They include on-demand personalized support via WhatApp, text or phone. Think of it like DIY vacation, except all the planning and booking have been done for you, and you don’t need to worry about disruptions.
