The trip
I took the train via Paris to Zürich for beautiful views of the Alps through the train windows. Here I took the sleeper train to Croatia, where I loved exploring cities as well as peaceful island life. On this trip I took the same route back, but next time I’d take the sleeper ferry to the South of Italy to relax on the beach before slowly making my way home via a sleeper train to Milan. Last year I travelled to this part of Italy via the sleeper train so Byway have combined my favourite elements from these two trips for you to experience the best of both.
Sleeper trains
The highlight of both my trips were definitely the sleeper trains, especially the one between Switzerland and Croatia. Watching the sunset from a cosy cabin as you travel through the Swiss mountains is incredible. You get to gain a day by travelling while you sleep and become enchanted by the romance of the sleeper. Such a comfortable way of travelling! We had a private sleeper cabin but you can also share a compartment to lower the price of your trip. I’ve travelled on a lot of sleeper trains and all of the people I’ve shared cabins with have been lovely.
